When I joined the department as a student, and even after graduation the little time I spent at the department as a support staff I heard the yearnings to establish a platform where faculty members, past and present students could meet and interact. This yearning remained in my thought. Therefore, when I was invited to lead the Interim Executive, it resonated. This is a mission to reunite our graduates, students and faculty. Organize a homecoming that will bring us together as one big family irrespective of your geographical location, state or country where you live. This was the reason my colleagues and I agreed to serve in the interim executive. The interim executive worked tirelessly to lay a solid foundation, and conducted elections that brought in the first national elected executive officers. The national executive council after the great night of investiture has continued to build on the works of the interim committee. Part of the milestones accomplished so far include registration of Health Promotion and Education Alumni Association Ibadan College of Medicine (HPEAAICM) with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC); institutionalization of structures for smooth management and administration of the Alumni Association including development of letterheads, logo, social media handles, and opening of bank account. In addition, the alumni association’s website. The website is our veritable tool to develop and drive our membership base, provide opportunity for interaction, collaboration and partnership with government ministries and agencies, establishments, universities and organizations with similar objectives and interest. It hosts portals for seminars, scientific conferences, journals and payments for membership, resource materials and general services.
